Digital impressions for full arch implant prosthesis: has the paradigm shift become the standard in practice?

Presenter: Dr Casey Walsh

Digital capture of intra-oral tissues has become widely used in fixed prosthodontics. Scanning of edentulous arches for implant prosthesis has gained limited traction due to the dificulty of scanning soft tissues, and the risk of inaccuracy in a system that requires absolutely precision. Have modern workflows overcome the apparent limitations and become the standard of practice?

Dr Casey Walsh

Casey earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Graduate Diploma of Dental Implantology from James Cook University, before completeting his Doctorate of Clincial Dentistry in Prosthodontics at the University of Queensland. Casey worked in general practice for almost a decade across private, public and hopsital based clinics in Alice Springs, Cairns and Melbourne, before relocating to Brisbane to undertake his specialty training. He currently works in private prosthodontics practice in Brisbane CBD, and has a particular clinical interest in the restoration of dental implants with fixed or removable prosthesis, and the management of prosthodontics complications surrounding dental implants.
