Periodontally failing dentition... or is it?
Presenters: Dr Brittny Roberts and Dr Geoff Harvey
Please join us for our next meeting with periodontal team Dr Brittny Roberts and Dr Geoff Harvey. Are periodontally failing teeth really failing? When is it worth trying to maintain and when to suggest extraction. Both speakers will be discussing managing Stage III/IV Periodontitis patients, and a full arch of implants may not always be the answer.
Topics to be discussed include:
- Options for managing aesthetic outcomes after periodontal treatment
- What is considered stable, reaslistic timelines and determining prognosis
- Sequencing of orthodontic treatment, implants and restorations
- SPT for patients with complex prosthetics
Dr Geoff Harvey is a periodontist in private practice in North Adelaide. Geoff completed his undergraduate and postgraduate dental training at the University of Adelaide, conducting research into the relationship between rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis. Geoff started his career in the Australian Army, providing dental care in places from Afghanistan to the Pacific Islands, as well as numerous parts of Australia.
After almost 15 years in the military, Geoff returned to Adelaide to work in private practice, and in 2021 opened Melbourne Street Perio, where he has worked ever since.
Dr Brittny Roberts is a dentist with over 15 years of clinical experience, having worked in metropolitan, rural, and remote settings in South Australia and Queensland. She is currently in the final year of postgraduate periodontics training at Adelaide University. Her research thesis explores a possible association between periodontitis and medication related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). At the end of this year, Brittny will be joining the team at Melbourne Street Perio as a periodontist on a full-time basis.
